Clear all WinTV files and registry entries from your PC
This program removes all WinTV programs, driver files and registry entries. This is a handy program to use before reinstalling WinTV, or before installing a new model of WinTV.
To run this program, download into your C:\ directory . To run this file click on Start - Run. Then type in C:\HCWCLEAR Choose the option for total removal and click on OK.

Motherboard chip test program
Displays the type of chipset you have on the motherboard. Can be used to determine if your chipset will work with the WinTV.

Get information on your WinTV
This program checks you WinTV board, and displays its model number, serial number, hardware configuration and software version installed. To run this program, download into your C:\ directory and run it

Capture test program
This program is a simple AVI capture program, which verifies that your WinTV can capture full motion video. To run this program, download into your C:\ directory and run it

Fix for Hcwsubid error message
This program fixes problems under Windows98 where you see a HCWSUBID error message when Inspect is run. To run this program, download into your C:\ directory and run C:\HCWSUBID

Beta test versions

WinTV2000 application update
download WinTV2000 application version 4.2_21342

To install, copy this file to a temporary directory on your local disk. Then run wintv2k42_21342.exe, which will install the new WinTV2000 application.
New feature: This version now has on-screen display of fast forward, play and rewind.
New feature: Recording controls disappear in "no'title" mode, until you move your cursor to the TV window.
New feature: Instant Jump while playing back a file While playing a file, hit the numeric keys on the IR; the WinTV2000 player will jump to a position in the file equal to total length of the file times the number hit. For example, if you hit the "5" key, you will jump to 50% of the file length. This feature is handy when playing back large files. This feature requires a new version of the IR remote control (see below).
New feature: Command-line support for record quality via -q"profilename. For example, when setting a command line, adding -q "DVDstandardplay" will record using the DVD Standard play profile. This feature requires the new 'WinTV-Schduler' (see below).

Standard Mode driver
Download WinTV driver version 4.3

Note: This driver fixes problems with loss of color on S-Video source.
Note: This driver has improved compatibility with certain motherboards, including ALi. If you are using ALi motherboards, we recommend getting the latest ALi AGP Driver (version 1.82): It was developed to improve system stability with TV cards.
Also with ALi motherboards, set 'PCI Latency' in the BIOS to 10: some systems may have problems at any greater setting (i.e. 16,32, etc.).
If you get bad horizontal lines (with movement) when used with the Soundblaster Live Player 5.1., enable 'Delay Transaction' in the BIOS or using another soundcard will eliminate the line problem.

Installation instructions:

  1. Download this file (WTVDRV43_19301.EXE) and save it to a directory you will remember (for example: C:\)
  2. Run WTVDRV43_19301.EXE. This will unpack the driver and start the driver installation.
  3. Halfway through the installation you will be asked to Reboot. Do so to continue the driver installation.
  4. After the driver has been installed, you need to install the latest WinTV2000 application with the new video formats.
    Download the WinTV application wintv2k40_21126.exe and save it to a directory you will remember (for example: C:\)
    Run wintv2k40_21126.exe. This will install the updated WinTV2000 application. There is no need to reboot after this.

Record your TV shows to hard disk using the WinTV MPEG1 recorder version 1.1.12
This audio/video recorder works on all WinTV-pci boards, and uses MPEG1 compression to save your TV shows to your PC's hard disk. The compression is done in software, so you need a 500MHz Pentium processor or faster. There is no channel changing capability in this first version of the recorder, so set your channel before you run it.
Important: this recorder requires a 500MHz Pentium II minimum for operation.

DScaler website
Hauppauge uses parts of the Descaler technology in our latest WDM drivers to provide a better TV picture from our WinTV PCI boards. We are grateful to the DScaler team for providing us with their de-interlacing routines.
You can get a fully functioning open-source DScaler application which aims to supply the best possible picture from your Hauppauge WinTV PCI board. At this time DScaler does not fully support the onboard tuners of our cards but works extremely well if you are using external sources such as laserdisc or DSS.

Note: This application is not recommended for PC novices. See the DScaler website (http://www.dscaler.org/) for more details and to download DScaler.

FreeBSD / NetBSD / OpenBSD / BSDi Driver and Applications

The driver for the WinTV card is part of the FreeBSD kernel. It has also been ported to OpenBSD, NetBSD and BSDi operating systems.

How to use WinTV-Capture

VIA 4-in-1 driver update will often fix compatibility problems with the WinTV.
This driver is suitable for all VIA chipsets using Windows 95, 98, 98SE, NT
This driver will install the VIA: - IDE Busmaster (2.1.41 or higher) - VIA AGP 3.55 - IRQ Routing Driver (1.3a or higher) - VIA Registry (ACPI). Also included is the VIA DMA Tool which facilitates the adjustment of DMA settings. The 4-in-1 Driver will automatically detect which versions of drivers you are currently using as well as determine the necessity to upgrade.
