Installing the WinCast/TV and Win/TVpci
Under Windows 95 OSR2


Windows 95 OSR2 is a version of Windows which is found on many new PC's. OSR2 looks different during the installation of the WinCast driver then the upgrade version of Windows 95.
This document describes what the user will see while installing the WinCast driver under Windows 95 OSR2.


Update driver Wizard

After installing the WinCast/TV or Win/TVpci board in your PC, and turning on the power, Windows 95 Plug-and-Play will recognize that a new PCI Multimedia Video Device has been seen. You should see this Window.

Now, insert the Hauppauge WinCast/TV CD-ROM.

Click Next.

The next window will appear automatically after Windows 95 has determined that this device is the Hauppauge WinCast/TV or Win/TVpci.

Note: If a message stating "Widows was unable to locate a driver for this device", you did not wait long enough for the WinTV Installation CD to be read. Click Back and then click Next again for the CD to be recognized.

Click on Finish.

The driver starts to install

After a few seconds, you will be asked to "Please insert the disk labeled WinCast/TV Driver CD".
Click OK.

Type in the drive letter of the WinCast/TV Installation CD-ROM.

For example, if your CD-ROM is in drive D: then type D:\

Click OK.

The driver continues to install

You will now see the progress as Windows 95 installs the rest of the driver.

The WinCast driver has now been installed

After the WinCast driver has been completely installed, you will be asked to reboot your PC. Click Yes to do so.

System Inspection is run

After your PC has rebooted, the WinCast/TV driver inspects your PC system to see if there are any conflicts with the resources assigned to the WinCast by Windows 95 Plug-and-Play.

You should see a message saying "Your Hauppauge WinCast hardware and driver appears to be installed and configured correctly!"

Direct Draw check is run

The WinCast driver also makes sure a compatible version of Direct Draw is installed on your PC. You should see the "Good News" message.

You are now ready to install the WinTV Application. Other applications which use the WinCast/TV driver include the Win/TV Capture application, the Intel Intercast application and most video conferencing applications such as Vocaltec IPhone, Smith Micro's AudioVision, CU-SeeMe, Microsoft NetMeeting, Intel VideoPhone, etc.
